CSU-LA Student Training Series- Introduction to Linux/Unix

A free in-person workshop hosted by the California State University- Los Angeles. This session will be an XSEDE Introduction to Linux/Unix.
Linux is a very powerful operating system which includes a multitude of tools for programmers and system administrators. It is heavily used in the academic and scientific communities because it is so versatile, and has over 40 years of development of scientific tools. It is a powerful, robust, stable, and flexible system that allows programmers to tailor the operations system to run on a variety of hardware from phones to supercomputers.
Attendance is mandatory for the Pre-trainee workshops.
Please arrive to the workshop at 9:00AM for breakfast. The workshop starts at 9:20AM sharp. There is a one hour lunch break between noon-1:00PM.
Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.
This training session will be conducted on attendee’s personal laptop devices. You will be required to download software to your laptop (ie, SSH Shell Client). Links for the software will be provided by the XSEDE trainers and will be required to be installed prior to the beginning of the class.
